River is a large river located in the west of Beijing. Having been affected by the upstream vegetation, terrain and climate since ancient times till present, the river water is turbid and turbulent, and often runs recklessly in the flood season. Thanks to the targeted governance over years, the river does not see floods anymore and it has even dried up for several years. In recent years, after construction and transformation, the current river is clear and runs gently. The river bank with sediment deposition has been constructed into a similar ecological leisure space. In the same space, the new landscape has replaced the river water containing large amounts of sediments and gradually became a garden for people to store their thoughts. However, a flood in the rainy season of 2023, which had been isolated for a hundred years, made the Yongding River, which had been silent for decades roar again, turbid and turbulent water have ruined all that has been painstakingly done in recent years. Time in the garden is transitory. https://zhangchenglong.net/Stare-at-the-box Thu, 01 Jun 2023 08:10:46 +0000 ZHANG CHENGLONG https://zhangchenglong.net/Stare-at-the-box ︎ <img width="1584" driving through the Hexi Corridor to the northwest, drivers are shocked by the changing landscapes coming into view, which raises my deep thinking. Over thousands of years, mankind has been keeping developing new landscapes in this land to attach their belief and resist the fear brought by nature. Trudging through the long journey, one could arrive at those destinations that have existed in the world since ancient times and stand in the vast and mighty land to gaze at those hints left by tiny lives in a certain way and appreciate a touch of tenderness in the desolated northwest China. https://zhangchenglong.net/Snapshots-of-the-core Tue, 12 Nov 2024 04:50:51 +0000 ZHANG CHENGLONG https://zhangchenglong.net/Snapshots-of-the-core Snapshots of the core <img width="1200" height="1600" width_o="1200" height_o="1600" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/01e91ce5bf85f4dd9768f4232cf9e64e5fc85fe0f1d81146cf7a32fd9b6b32af/IMG_4134.jpeg" data-mid="236629331" border="0" alt="fragrant hills, 2025" data-caption="fragrant hills, 2025" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/01e91ce5bf85f4dd9768f4232cf9e64e5fc85fe0f1d81146cf7a32fd9b6b32af/IMG_4134.jpeg" /> <img width="1600" height="1200" width_o="1600" height_o="1200" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/1fe1e5a5bcc91fd7b908725314e9aac93f94dd7ce5d4e535fdc081dd26af25f4/IMG_3797.jpeg" data-mid="235750689" border="0" alt="evening nook, 2025" data-caption="evening nook, 2025" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/1fe1e5a5bcc91fd7b908725314e9aac93f94dd7ce5d4e535fdc081dd26af25f4/IMG_3797.jpeg" /> <img width="1200" height="1600" width_o="1200" height_o="1600" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/2609de1fe22cb0b6d3858c84fda7bec048d9bf488a77e5f4be74da0b5a469cf9/IMG_2664.jpeg" data-mid="235488127" border="0" alt="hunter, 2025" data-caption="hunter, 2025" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/2609de1fe22cb0b6d3858c84fda7bec048d9bf488a77e5f4be74da0b5a469cf9/IMG_2664.jpeg" /> <img width="1200" height="1600" width_o="1200" height_o="1600" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/27479987f9481025de048917a3db9cd8e0ef782b202bae75510cb331a3af990d/IMG_1916.jpeg" data-mid="235488120" border="0" alt="asakusa, 2025" data-caption="asakusa, 2025" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/27479987f9481025de048917a3db9cd8e0ef782b202bae75510cb331a3af990d/IMG_1916.jpeg" /> <img width="1599" height="1200" width_o="1599" height_o="1200" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/ac50870874c9cc39f67b5ada960331d9d98d0340e4255160278de0ea3f932c1f/IMG_1733.jpeg" data-mid="234408317" border="0" alt="sammie &amp; brew, 2025" data-caption="sammie &amp; brew, 2025" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/ac50870874c9cc39f67b5ada960331d9d98d0340e4255160278de0ea3f932c1f/IMG_1733.jpeg" /> <img width="1200" height="1200" width_o="1200" height_o="1200" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/52d462fa211297733b0f6610d496d618e883078f764da7668321ea80e231c895/IMG_0611.jpeg" data-mid="229711482" border="0" alt="yinxu museum, 2025" data-caption="yinxu museum, 2025" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/52d462fa211297733b0f6610d496d618e883078f764da7668321ea80e231c895/IMG_0611.jpeg" /> <img width="1200" height="1500" width_o="1200" height_o="1500" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/a7c1c017ac22ed5b5c51b5d66d24ae8a4d246fbd55ee16fb1e54be9d98ab777d/Stick-around-001-.jpg" data-mid="249656144" border="0" alt="self-portrait during lockdown in Beijing, 2022" data-caption="self-portrait during lockdown in Beijing, 2022" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/a7c1c017ac22ed5b5c51b5d66d24ae8a4d246fbd55ee16fb1e54be9d98ab777d/Stick-around-001-.jpg" /> <img width="1600" height="1200" width_o="1600" height_o="1200" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/a0bdc4609b6e10dbd84743ab74ac1db7b214c59acd99017b5357176858bc8f94/IMG_6187.jpeg" data-mid="221701160" border="0" alt="bloom, 2018" data-caption="bloom, 2018" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/a0bdc4609b6e10dbd84743ab74ac1db7b214c59acd99017b5357176858bc8f94/IMG_6187.jpeg" /> https://zhangchenglong.net/information Wed, 14 Oct 2020 14:33:57 +0000 ZHANG CHENGLONG https://zhangchenglong.net/information <img width="1800" height="1149" width_o="1800" height_o="1149" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/548893692713d019836824f78d1d9a1082f8bcf7f2790586fb0da464eea01d08/ZHANG-CHENGLONG_GDF83.jpg" data-mid="239180272" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/548893692713d019836824f78d1d9a1082f8bcf7f2790586fb0da464eea01d08/ZHANG-CHENGLONG_GDF83.jpg" /> Zhang Chenglong (@alonbjs) lives and works in Bei'jing, China.
